A paragraph about “The Flipped Classroom.” Explain this instructional design by referring to chapter 10 and link to a source of educational videos.

Flipped classrooms take on the task of learning by a different approach, in hopes of facilitating and maximizing student learning teachers and students do a lot more work outside of the classroom than a typical class may. Students listen to a lecture or watch a video on the new content prior to coming to school and then once they are at school they can ask questions and work on solidifying new techniques. This approach to teaching requires access to outside resources such as the internet for students to view the direct instruction put together by their teacher. This style of learning while it may take more on both the student and the teachers part can allow for much more personalized learning and facilitation of information that may not be able to be offered in a traditional classroom. Teachers can personalize each lesson individually so that it caters the needs of each students rather than an in-class lesson that may be more of a generalize learning approach.

Having open education allows for the information and tools taught inside of the classroom to be more readily available on a wide range for those outside of the class, giving access to anyone and everyone who cares to view it. The four focus points of open content for education are reuse, revise, remix and redistribute and these are all in terms of how you share and upload the information to students and for what purpose. Because open education has become such a big thing, there are more websites than ever before that teachers can search for open content and material they can share about their lesson and what they are teaching. The possibilities are endless for Open education, there are so many different softwares and operating systems that teachers can use that they can choose whichever one they feel most comfortable with using. A lot of teachers have found that trial and error methods have been proven to work best, it gives teachers and students the opportunity to see which software or program they like the best and they use that one rather than being stuck using something that they do not like. To master this, it takes a lot of modifying content and changing it that’s where the revising and remixing comes in handy so that the content meets your individual needs.

From creating these PowerPoint assignments, I learned how to create an interactive quiz, test or game such as jeopardy. Prior to this assignment I was unaware how you do live action or directions such as next, previous and end the slide show. I think it is cool how you can do these things and I am very thankful that we learned how to do this in class. The two at home assignments we fun to create, I did them by myself and, so I was able to create a PowerPoint video and a quiz that I could potentially use when I am a teacher. I did not like how the assignments had to be a certain length because I felt like I was repeating myself a lot. But overall, I enjoyed both assignments.
