Blog POst 10

Blog Post 10

As we progress within the classroom, using excel to collect data and survey the students can be very helpful. Teachers no matter what subject area or grade they teach can graphs to portray test/ quiz scores for the students to see how they measure up to the overall class average. This may be more useful for students in middle and high school but it can be used in any grade. When discussing specific subjects/ grade levels teachers that work with math and science are the ones that would typically use excel the most. In biology or earth science there are a lot of charts and experiments that the teachers would use excel to make charts/ graphs or display data to their students. As well as teachers that teach Statistics in the upper grade levels in high school. Statistics includes a lot of data surveying the require students and the teacher to have a forum such as excel to report the data that they have found.

Coming to the end of the semester, I have found looking at my fellow classmate’s blogs as very interesting. It is interesting to observe different opinions and ways of thinking from their blogs. We all receive the same requirements for what must be in the post but we record and talk about all different types of things. I have noticed that no two students mentioned the same thing in really any of the posts. Out of all the post I think the application parts of the posts are what I found most interesting, seeing the different ways that my classmates would apply what we have learned in class to their future career. This career not just within the education field but also the members of our class that are not education majors and may never become a teacher. Everything that we have learned in this class can be applicable to any field and career in the real world and seeing this being mentioned on my fellow classmate’s blogs is what I found most interesting.

I would like to learn more about mail merge on Microsoft word and Microsoft excel for existing programs, so that I can become Microsoft certified. I have found online tutorials or workshops that I could potentially attend to sharpen up my skills on these Microsoft programs. If we are looking at tangible technology that eventually could be found in a classroom; I would like to learn more about 3D printing/ the 3D pens and the virtual reality and how it can be applied within the classroom. To learn more about this technology I would love to go back to the Technology Sandbox or look on their website for information on these technologies. Staying up to date with the latest technology as it comes out and learning more about it will help teachers and myself be better prepared for when we are teachers in the future. I am a person that likes to know what is coming before it is here, thus learning and knowing how to work this technology will put me ahead of many others who are unaware of it’s existence.
